April 30th, 2026 — I was at Grit City, checking on the Heritage. Still no belt, not sure when it would be there. Bummer. But then Noelle got to talking, edging me ever toward the Road King Special I'd been eyeing for months.
It started with how I ride and train. Long hauls and slow speed drills. The rodeo-riding type skills.
It started with just wanting to be able to make a clean U-turn. But as I did it more, I found I wanted to do it more.
The Heritage has about a 27.5 degree lean angle before the floorboards scrape. The Road King has about 32.5. That means tighter circles. So there's part of it. The other part is that it's a touring bike. Same engine, but geared differently, and weighted differently. Much more comfortable on a very long open stretch.
It's not perfect — I had to get used to being a tad higher, and the bars still need to come back about an inch. But oh boy! She is fun to ride!!
At 60 days in I was at about 7,000 miles, already having gone to San Diego and back. I don't have many stories with Nyxie yet, but they are coming.
